In a nut shell Digital Story Telling (DST) is any way that modern ICT medium(s) can be utilised to tell a story. In many ways it remains the art of telling a story but modern tools on the internet may incorporate a number of different tools. For instance
- Podcasts
- YouTube videos
- Slideshows
- Snapchat feeds
This technology has become so cheap that most of the time the only price to use these tools is the price of admission onto the internet.
Often the story contents have a personal input by the other author, perhaps with an emotional appeal. So a DST might have a person talk about the journey that their migrant parents took to bring them to a new country and bring the author up to where they are today.
However, stories can have a myriad of purposes that include not just personal anecdotes but also focus on historical issues, explain a scientific concept, or review a piece of literature.
